FURUNO has developed 2 different models: the DS-80 is a Doppler speed log which provides vessels speed through water by measuring the water coloumn just below the vessel via a doppler frequency of 200 KHz.

FURUNO's new DS-60 is a very advanced doppler speed sonar log, which measures the 'bottom track" and automatically shift to water track measuring at depths over 200 meters. The large colour display can show the vessels movement in graphic mode or as a 'bird view' plotter display. The latter function is attractive for very large vessels berthing alongside a quay, where information of vessels speed, drift and movement, fore and aft is vital for a safe docking.
