Inmarsat

During the past 20 years Inmarsat equipment has been an essential part of FURUNO's portfolio of contemporary communication products.

Inmarsat C

From the first Inmarsat C products FELCOM -10, 11 and 12 to the modern FELCOM-18 and FELCOM-19 FURUNO has captured significant market share within the GMDSS equipment.

New IMO requirements for SOLAS vessels over 300 GT (Gross Tons) and passenger vessels, provides installation of SSAS equipment (Ship Security and Alert System) - and LRIT (Long Range Identification System).

To those requirements, FURUNO has developed various models e.g. FELCOM -18 SSAS but also a smart upgrade kits for excisiting FELCOM-15 models comprising of two 'alert' keys (IC-307). Alternatively, a  dedicated FELCOM-19 SSAS unit is available for those who trust that normal Inmarsat C traffic should not be part of the SSAS concept.

All FURUNO's newer models (FELCOM-12, 15, 16, 18 and 19) can be upgraded to both LRIT and SSAS.

FURUNO DANMARK is also an agent for the mandatory 'Performance test' for LRIT models, a test which must ensure that equipment is operating with full contact for 24 hours without interruption. Based on these tests a certificate will be issued.

Inmarsat B and Inmarsat Fleet Equipment

Inmarsat B terminals: FURUNO FELCOM-80, 81 and 82 B is still in operation after approx. 12 years upon the implementation of the system.

Since 2004, FURUNO has marketed Inmarsat Fleet terminals which provide improved data facilities. With these products FURUNO managed to turn users from Inmarsat B and M terminals to the more modern terminals. Fleet terminals have been marketed as FELCOM-30, 50 and 70.

These terminals are no longer in production since spring 2010 and has been replaced by Furuno's Fleet Broadband terminals. FURUNO still renders service and repair of the Fleet models.
