This unique product can make all the difference in locating and retrieving a missing crew member. The Smartfind S10 incorporates both AIS (Automatic Identification System) and GPS technology and once activated transmits a unique alert signal to AIS equipment onboard the vessel the individual has come from, and to other AIS equipped vessels within a typical 4 mile radius.

The first of its kind, the Smartfind S10 AIS Beacon features an inbuilt GPS receiver, and transmits target survivor information, including structured alert messages, GPS position information, and a unique serialised identity number. Bearing, distance and location information are accurately transmitted and displayed on the AIS receiver or plotter screen, giving potential rescuers all the information they require to carry out swift retrieval of an individual.

The Smartfind S10 AIS Beacon will transmit continuously for a minimum of 24 hours, regularly updating position information, and has excellent longevity thanks to its five year battery storage life. Waterproof to 60m, it also features a flashing LED light to assist with visual fixing and night-time location.

Measuring 9.7” x 1.7” and weighing just 150g, it is small and light, making it easily portable. The beacon is easy to activate, with a simple two-stage activation function that can be used, even when wearing gloves. For any safety conscious individual working on or near the water, this world-first product is a must-have item of equipment. Thanks to its waterproof capabilities, the S10 is ideal for divers who can activate the beacon on return to the surface if they should lose contact with their dive boat.

The emergency signal will be displayed on all ECDIS and plotter equipment which can present AIS emergency symbols, within VHF range which typically is around 4 nm.

For now there is no specific requirements for the color of the symbol, which therefor can vary from vendor to vendor.
